- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ Important Note for PC and PC/XT Users: ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ Proper functioning of the VEGA.COM program requires that ║
- echo ║ the System board Coprocessor switch be in the correct ║
- echo ║ position. This is switch number 2 on switch block 1. If ║
- echo ║ there is no 8087 Coprocessor in your system, this switch ║
- echo ║ should be in the ON position. If you have an 8087 present, ║
- echo ║ the switch should be in the OFF position. ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ Note that some versions of the IBM Guide To Operations may ║
- echo ║ incorrectly document the Coprocessor switch setting. ║

- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ VEGABOOT.SYS is device driver that will allow you to use your ║
- echo ║ VEGA with self-booting games that require emulation. To do ║
- echo ║ so, follow these steps: ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ 1. Prepare a formatted system disk using the DOS ║
- echo ║ FORMAT command with the /S option. ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ 2. Use the INSTALL program on this disk to add the ║
- echo ║ VEGABOOT.SYS driver and the appropriate CONFIG.SYS ║
- echo ║ file. ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ 3. Before trying to run a self-booting game, reboot ║
- echo ║ your computer with the disk prepared in steps 1 and ║

- echo ║ WINDOWS DISK MODIFICATIONS: ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ The VEGA Deluxe install program makes the following ║
- echo ║ modifications to the WINDOWS diskettes. ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ 1. SETUP DISK: Three driver files are removed from the ║
- echo ║ Windows SETUP disk to make room for the VEGA Deluxe ║
- echo ║ drivers. The drivers removed are CGA.DRV, HERCULES.DRV, ║
- echo ║ and EGALORES.DRV. The files 752X410.DRV and 640X480.DRV ║
- echo ║ are then copied from the VEGA Deluxe diskette to the ║
- echo ║ Windows SETUP diskette. ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ 2. BUILD DISK: The install program makes two copies of ║
- echo ║ the file EGAHIRES.LGO. These copies are called ║
- echo ║ 752X410.LGO and 640X480.LGO. ║
- echo ║ ║
- echo ║ These changes can be made by hand using standard DOS commands ║
- echo ║ if you prefer. Once they are made Windows should be ║
- echo ║ installed as described in the Windows documentation. ║
